Kenneth J. Nota

Ken started in the legal profession when he was 17 years old, working part-time as a messenger and office assistant at the Providence law firm of Roberts, Carroll, Feldstein & Tucker. He continued working with that firm as a real estate paralegal during his college years to pay his own way through school. He graduated from Rhode Island College in 1985 with a BA in Political Science. He earned a Juris Doctorate, with honors, from the University of Connecticut, School of Law in 1988. During law school, he worked as a law clerk with the Hartford law firm of Danaher, O’Connell, Atmore, Tedford & Flaherty.

Ken began his career as a lawyer at the venerable law firm of Edwards & Angell in Rhode Island (now part of Locke Lord) where he focused on commercial lending and mergers and acquisitions. In 1990 Ken left to accept a position as Vice President & General Counsel for Dryvit Systems, Inc., a large manufacturer of exterior siding materials. In 1995 Dryvit was acquired by RPM International, an NYSE traded company. He continued at Dryvit and in 2014 he was promoted to the role of Vice President, General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer for two of RPM’s reporting segments, which had worldwide combined sales of approximately $2 billion.

Over his private practice and in-house career, Ken has dealt with a broad range of legal and compliance matters, both foreign and domestic, and developed a comprehensive knowledge of the challenges facing business from a legal, compliance, and business perspective.

Ken is licensed to practice law in Florida, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. He was on the Board of Directors of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel for six years and awarded the Corporate Counsel Member of the Year Award on two occasions. Ken is a Fellow of the Rhode Island Bar Foundation. He has been a featured speaker at various national and state law conferences.

Ken has been an active member of the Knights of Columbus since 2014 and is the past Grand Knight of Our Lady of Victory Council in Sarasota, Florida. Ken is a parishioner at St. Martha Parish in Sarasota. He is a member of the Sarasota and Manatee County Chambers of Commerce. He served on the Architectural Review Board and the Board of Directors for the Inlets at Riverdale Homeowners Association. Over the years he has participated in a number of charity events for groups such as the American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society, and the National MS Society. Ken lives in Bradenton with his wife Patricia and they have three adult children.
